Who is Catwaba Riverkeeper?

The Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation consists of a local, community-based group of members and volunteers located throughout the region connected to the river basin that dedicates time, talent and treasure to ensuring the protection of the Catawba-Wateree River. Their goal is simple: to sustain plentiful, clean water for generations to come.

What is River Week?

Good beer needs good water. River Week is where local breweries team up with the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy Catawba River, lakes, and streams. Starting with our Rain Barrel Workshop event and consisting of river clean ups and more, the week is dedicated to educating our community and enjoying good beer.

What is a Rain Barrel Workshop?

The Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation offers rain barrel workshops at various locations across the Catawba River Basin throughout the year. Each rain barrel workshop is a hands on, do-it-yourself opportunity to build a 40-50 gallon rain barrel suitable for use at your home or place of business.

Rain barrels capture water from a roof and hold it for later use such as on lawns, gardens or indoor plants. Collecting this runoff rain not only reduces the amount of water that flows from your property, but it’s a great way to conserve water and save some money.

The Rain Barrel Workshop costs $50 per barrel. Each workshop participant will go home with a complete, ready to catch rain barrel that they will build on site during the workshop. Cost includes all hardware, construction materials, and instruction. Workshops last about one hour.

Do I have to pay to attend?

No! This is a FREE event. Come hang out and grab a beer and feel free to sit in on the workshop at no cost.

If you want to make a Rain Barrel on site with assistance from the Catawba Riverkeeper you can order one in advance. Just make sure to order it before July 28th so we can have them on site for you. You can preorder yours here.

You will also have the option to order one after the event if you so choose.

How do I sign-up?

No need to sign up ahead of time unless you are planning on building your barrel their on site or taking it home. Go here to preorder yours, otherwise you can order one after the workshop and pick it up at a later date.
